According to IGN, Minecraft inked a deal with Merlin Entertainments last November to construct a Minecraft Theme Park. This marks Merlin Entertainment’s first venture into the video game realm.

Merlin Entertainments is Europe’s largest theme park operator. It is the second largest in the world after Disney. The company manages over 150 attractions in 23 countries, including well-known brands such as LEGOLAND, Madame Tussauds, and the London Eye.

The Minecraft theme parks are slated to open in the United States and the United Kingdom. Merlin Entertainments will invest more than £85 million (approximately $106 million) in this ambitious project, and the parks are expected to welcome visitors between 2026 and 2027.

Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time, boasts an impressive 140 million active monthly users worldwide. The franchise is expanding beyond gaming, with a feature film set to hit theaters this April. Additionally, Netflix has expressed interest in producing an animated series based on the game, which is likely to boost Minecraft’s popularity further.

Microsoft’s Vice President of Game Franchise Development, Kayleen Walters, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating they are collaborating with Merlin to create immersive experiences. These experiences will allow fans to engage with Minecraft in ways they’ve never imagined before.
