Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took to the golf course with Bryson DeChambeau, a pro golfer with LIV Golf. DeChambeau uploaded a video on YouTube titled “Can I Break 50 With President Donald Trump?” This challenge, known as “Break 50,” features DeChambeau inviting celebrities to see if they can complete a round from the front tees in under 50 strokes using a best-ball format.
The pair pledged to donate $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project for each score they made under par. The filming took place at the driving range of Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. The video captures the two engaging in conversation before heading to the first hole, with Trump driving the golf cart and DeChambeau as the passenger.
At the second hole’s tee box, Trump talked about his golf discussion at the presidential debate with President Joe Biden. DeChambeau humorously responded to the comment. As they grew more comfortable, the two referred to each other as “partners” and “brothers.”
During their 18-hole round, Trump made an impressive long-distance birdie putt on the final hole, earning a high-five from DeChambeau. They recorded an impressive score throughout the game with five eagles, twelve birdies, and two pars. Notably, Trump also scored an eagle on the eighth hole.
Their final score was 22 under par. Following their pledge, they plan to donate $2.2 million, contributing $100,000 for each birdie they scored during the round.
DeChambeau expressed his honor in making such a significant donation, noting that it would support the Wounded Warrior Project and hoping that viewers would also contribute. The video quickly surpassed 100,000 views within just one hour of being uploaded.
Trump began his golf business in 1999, acquiring 17 golf courses worldwide and naming them with his name. His most popular course is Trump Turnberry in Scotland. After Trump’s acquisition, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club (R&A) removed this course from the Open Championship rotation.
Trump boasted about his golf skills, claiming a handicap of 2. Meanwhile, President Biden has retreated from the golf scene following a shooting incident involving Trump and his own battle with COVID-19. In response, the Democrats have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as their candidate to run against Trump.
