An iconic Olympic athlete, Simone Biles, won the gold medal in the all-around competition yesterday. Biles scored 59.131 points.
She competed in four events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. This earned her a second gold medal, and she won the team event.
Biles previously won four gold medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the team, all-around, vault, and floor exercise events.
With her two gold medals from this Olympics, she now has a total of six gold medals.
After withdrawing from the team event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Biles initially did not plan to compete in the individual events.
However, she made a remarkable comeback, scoring 15.766 on vault and 15.066 on floor exercise during the Olympics.
However, her scores struggled in the bars. Biles is aiming for her fifth gold medal, except for the bars, her weakest area.
Biles will compete against Andras, South Korea’s Yeo Seojeong, and North Korea’s An Changok for the vault final at 10:20 a.m. ET/7:20 a.m. PT on Saturday, Aug. 3.
