The United States secured another victory in the Presidents Cup, achieving an impressive 10 consecutive wins against the international team in the men’s golf.

On the final day of the 2024 Presidents Cup, held at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada, the U.S. team delivered a strong performance, finishing with 6 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses in singles match play against the International Team. This resulted in a final score of 18.5 to 11.5, allowing the U.S. to claim the trophy and extend their winning streak that began in the 2005 tournament.

Founded in 1994, the Presidents Cup is a biennial team competition featuring a team from the rest of the world (excluding Europe) competing against the United States, distinct from the Ryder Cup between the U.S. and Europe. The International Team could not avoid defeat again, with the overall record now standing at 13 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in favor of the United States. The last time the International Team secured a victory was in the 1998 tournament in Australia, while the 2003 event in South Africa ended in a tie.

Finishing the third day of the tournament with a score of 7-11, the International Team aimed for a comeback on the final day but ultimately couldn’t overcome the U.S. team’s strong performance. Notably, the four Korean players on the team did not secure any wins, diminishing the International Team’s chances. Kim Joo Hyung tied with Sam Burns, each earning 0.5 points, while Im Sung Jae lost to Russell Henley by three holes. In a crucial match, Kim Si Woo lost to Keegan Bradley by one hole, sealing the U.S. victory with an overall score of 14.5 to 9.5.

The Presidents Cup operates under a format where the first team to reach 15.5 points out of 30 wins. Kim Si Woo, who was down by three holes, attempted a comeback by winning the 16th hole (par 4) and the 17th hole (par 3) but ultimately missed a key birdie putt on the 18th hole (par 4). Meanwhile, An Byeong Hun tied his match against Sahith Theegala.

Regarding individual performance, Kim Si Woo finished with 2 wins and 2 losses, contributing 2 points to the team. An Byeong Hun recorded with 1 win, 1 tie, and 1 loss, adding 1.5 points. Kim Joo Hyung also contributed 1.5 points with 1 win, 1 tie, and 2 losses, while Im Sung Jae ended with 1 win and 4 losses, earning 1 point.

The U.S. team showcased standout performances from Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele, each recording 4 wins and 1 loss, collectively contributing a total of 12 points. The first day featured foursomes (where two players alternate hitting one ball), while the second day included four-ball matches (where each player plays their own ball, with the best score counting for the team). Both formats were played on the third day.

This victory for the U.S. team further solidified their dominance in the Presidents Cup.
