Although President Biden is slightly behind former President Trump in terms of popularity, he is far ahead in fundraising.
According to United Press, President Biden, former President Barack Obama, and former President Bill Clinton attended a political fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall in New York on the afternoon of the 28th (local time).
Former presidents and Hollywood stars attended the event, which reportedly raised $25 million.
The campaign team promoted the event as an unprecedented success even before it began.
President Biden and former President Obama, who flew together on Air Force One from Washington, D.C., praised President Biden as an “excellent example as a president.”
Former President Obama also attempted to quell internal dissatisfaction among supporters over the issue of Israel by stating that “President Biden has displayed ethical transparency on the Israel issue” and that he is prepared to listen to both sides and find common ground.
Former President Obama, who played a crucial role as a political pillar for President Biden, emphasized that Biden’s re-election is necessary to stop Trump and the achievements of the healthcare and energy sectors.
Former President Clinton also appealed for support, saying, “President Biden deserves re-election, and the world’s democracies need this.”
Former President Clinton emphasized that “economic indicators have improved significantly during President Biden’s tenure compared to the time of former President Trump, and this trend will continue. He is a good choice for America.”
President Biden directly attacked the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, criticizing him as “somewhat old and broken.”
The Associated Press reported that the approximately 5,000 supporters who paid between $250 and $500,000 to attend the event were very excited.
The Biden campaign set the ticket price for the event at $250 for basic admission, $100,000 for a photo with the three presidents, $250,000 to attend a reception, and $500,000 to participate in a more intimate gathering.
This contrasts the 2016 election when former President Trump significantly outpaced his Democratic rival, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
As of the end of last month, President Biden’s funds were reported to be $155 million.
In contrast, former President Trump is struggling with legal risks and spending significant political donations on legal costs with only $37 million in funds.
Although seemingly unaware of this, a campaign fundraising event for former President Trump is scheduled for April 6 in Palm Beach, Florida, where he resides.
The event is organized by hedge fund mogul John Paulson and is expected to raise $33 million.
