North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, which commemorates Russia’s victory in World War II. Russia also expressed its willingness to develop cooperation with North Korea in all areas, suggesting that the relationship between North Korea and Russia is deepening.

According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 9th, Kim stated in his congratulatory message, “Today, under your guidance, the Russian people are proudly continuing the noble spirit of the victorious generation by resolutely fighting for justice to defend the sovereign rights of the country and ensure peace and security in the region against the malicious challenges and threats of hostile forces.” He added, “On this occasion, I express my firm support and solidarity for Russia’s success, hoping that you, the glorious Russian armed forces, and the people will achieve new victories in the struggle to build a fair and peaceful multipolar world by defeating imperialist hegemonic policy and power with the power of a strong country.”

Kim, who had previously sent a congratulatory letter on Putin’s inauguration day on the 7th, has now sent a congratulatory telegram.

Russia reciprocates. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, called North Korea a very promising partner at a briefing the day before, stating that Russia wants to further develop relationships in all possible areas with North Korea.
