Former National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster has made a startling claim about former President Donald Trump. McMaster asserts that Trump once proposed the idea of eliminating all North Korean forces during his presidency.
In his forthcoming autobiography, Battlegrounds: The Fight to Defend the Free World, McMaster discloses that Trump proposed “outlandish” ideas, including the suggestion to “Why don’t we take out the whole North Korean Army during one of their parades?” He reveals that Trump’s staff often competed to flatter him, and during discussions about his unconventional proposals, the notion of “removing the entire North Korean military” was among those considered.
Trump also made extreme comments regarding the drug problem in Mexico. During a meeting focused on addressing drug issues, Trump allegedly proposed, “Why don’t we just bomb the drugs?”
McMaster criticized his colleagues for their attempts to appease Trump, even in these situations.
McMaster is recognized as one of the figures who helped control Trump’s “rampage” alongside former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, and former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly during Trump’s first term.
Before stepping down, McMaster disclosed at the Munich Security Conference in February 2018 that there was evidence that Russia interfered in the U.S. elections. This statement reportedly angered Trump, leading McMaster to resign as National Security Advisor in March 2018, just 13 months after he took the role.
