Missing Korean Man in Japan Found Unconscious in America? Still Missing, Not in California

Claims have been made that social worker Yoon Se-jun, who went missing in Japan, was found in California, USA. However, this has been confirmed to be untrue.
According to Hankook Ilbo, on the 22nd, recently, suspicion arose on social media that the unidentified Asian male released by Los Angeles (LA) health authorities might be Mr. Yoon.
The LA health authorities reported that the man was found with severe head trauma in a residential area of San Pedro, a coastal area of LA, on the 9th and was admitted to a local hospital.
The health authorities distributed information such as the man’s face photo, the location where he was found, and his belongings to local media as his identity could not be confirmed.
During this process, suspicion arose that the man might be Mr. Yoon. The man was reportedly about 5’10” tall and weighing about 159 lbs, similar to Mr. Yoon, who is 5’9″ (175cm) tall. It was also noted that they had similar facial features. In addition, a black backpack, travel toiletries, and a wallet containing Japanese currency were found, which Mr. Yoon also carried during his trips to Japan.
On X (formerly Twitter), a post suggesting that the man could be Mr. Yoon recorded over a million views, spreading the suspicion.
However, the South Korean Consulate in LA said they collected the man’s fingerprints and compared them with Mr. Yoon’s, but they did not match. The exact nationality and identity of the man have not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Mr. Yoon backpacked to Japan on May 9th and lost contact on June 8th after visiting Kushimoto-cho, Wakayama Prefecture, Osaka, Japan. Upon receiving the report from the South Korean Consulate in Osaka, the Japanese police are conducting a public investigation. The Japanese police are tracking Mr. Yoon’s whereabouts, but no clues have surfaced yet.
Mr. Yoon, born in 1996, is 5’9″ (175cm) tall, has a lean physique, and has a small scar on his right cheek. Anyone who knows or has witnessed Mr. Yoon’s whereabouts can report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consular call center.
