Joint Chiefs of Staff Slams North Korea – Strict Warning on Military Satellite Launch Plans

On the 20th, the Joint Chiefs of Staff warned North Korea, stating, “Immediately stop preparing the military reconnaissance satellite launch.”

Kang Ho-Phil, the Chief of Operations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated in a statement on the same day, “Despite repeated warnings from the Korea-U.S. alliance and the international community, North Korea is trying to push ahead with the so-called ‘military reconnaissance satellite’ launch.”

He also warned, “If the launch is forced, our military will take necessary measures to protect the lives and safety of our people.”

He also emphasized that “the launch of the military reconnaissance satellite is a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolution that bans all missile launches by North Korea using ballistic missile technology, and it is a provocative act that threatens our national security.”
