Call for an immediate halt to misinformation and military threats, urging a path of dialogue and cooperation
On the 4th, the Ministry of Unification criticized North Korea for its ongoing reports condemning the South for abolishing the 9·19 South-North Military Agreement. The Ministry remarked that if it’s an attempt to incite division within them, it reveals North Korea’s low-level tactics.
Koo Byung Sam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification, stated in a regular briefing held at the Government Complex in Seoul this morning, “The Ministry of Unification strongly condemns North Korea for repeating false and forced claims about our minimal and legitimate action of partially suspending the effectiveness of the 9·19 Military Agreement through the Ministry of National Defense’s statement and Korean Central News Agency.”
He further noted that their military is merely taking defensive measures in response to North Korea’s practical abolition of the 9·19 Military Agreement and its military threats.
Spokesperson Koo warned, “North Korea is trying to incite division within us by insulting our head of state with rude language. This only reveals North Korea’s low-level tactics and will not have any effect.”
He also conveyed, “North Korea should not misjudge the situation, such as testing our military’s readiness,” and “We urge them to immediately stop false propaganda and military threats and come out on the path of dialogue and cooperation.”
In response to North Korea’s claim through a communication commentary that their military has conducted broadcasting propaganda via loudspeakers over 3200 times towards North Korea this year, he denied, stating, “Our military is known not to conduct loudspeaker broadcasts for anti-North propaganda and psychological warfare.”
