In response to Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territory, Russia has promised a strong retaliation.

According to Politico, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Telegram, “We will respond forcefully to Ukraine’s surprise invasion of Russian territory.”

Zakharova detailed that Ukrainian forces launched massive drone attacks on several regions of Russia over 24 hours, with a particular focus on Belgorod and Voronezh. Overnight, there were also large-scale missile attacks in the border area of Kursk.

The governors of Voronezh, Kursk, and Belgorod reported via Telegram that Ukraine launched drone and missile attacks. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defense systems destroyed 35 drones.

Earlier, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged for the first time that Ukrainian forces are extending the conflict into Russian territory. Reports suggest that the Ukrainian troops conducted military operations beyond the Russian border last Tuesday.

Following Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territory, Russia quickly retaliated. According to The Kyiv Independent, Russian forces launched drone and missile strikes on 11 regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv.

Zelenskyy stated on X that a Russian airstrike “tragically” killed a 4-year-old boy and his father overnight in the Kyiv region, injuring three others. He also mentioned that preliminary information suggests Russia used North Korean missiles in the airstrike.
