A recent assessment shows Israel’s AI (artificial intelligence) technology is ranked fourth globally. The Israeli government has set a goal of solidifying its status as a powerhouse by attracting global AI talent.

According to a report by the American email software company ZeroBounce, released on Sunday, Israel’s AI development level is ranked fourth after the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. The report was based on data from the past decade, including private investment in AI, startups, and workforce analysis.

Israel distinguishes itself from other countries in the AI industry due to its high percentage of AI talent. ZeroBounce noted, “1.13% of Israel’s entire workforce is involved in AI-related roles,” adding that “this is the highest ratio of AI experts.”

The startup sector also shows significant growth, with 442 startups currently participating in Israel’s AI ecosystem. Although the absolute amount of private investment may be lower, the report asserts that Israel maintains its competitiveness through strategic investments focused on AI, unlike the top three countries.

The Israeli government actively seeks to attract overseas talent to sustain its competitiveness in the AI sector.

The Israeli Innovation Authority (IIA) has launched a $2.7 million plan to attract overseas AI experts. The IIA believes synergy between Israeli AI talent and top international experts could enhance its competitiveness. Furthermore, they expect this initiative to be a model for similar efforts in various technology sectors beyond AI.

An official from the IIA emphasized the importance of recruiting global AI experts to maintain Israel’s leadership in the field. They noted that the pilot program’s success would serve as a foundation for future initiatives in AI and other technology fields.
