North Korea Stands by Russia: Kim Yo Jong Slams Zelenskyy’s “War Crimes” Accusation

Daniel Kim Views

On Sunday, Kim Yo Jong, the Deputy Director of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s assertion that “Russia has made North Korea and Iran accomplices in war crimes through arms deals,” dismissing the claim as a “reckless political provocation.”

Yonhap News

In a statement released via the Korean Central News Agency, Kim criticized Zelenskyy’s remarks made during a high-level United Nations Security Council meeting on Ukraine peace on September 24 at the UN headquarters in New York, branding them as “nonsense.” She argued that, based on Zelenskyy’s logic, the United States and Western nations, which have supplied the majority of weapons to Ukraine, should be deemed the “primary accomplices” in the conflict.

Kim further condemned the U.S. decision to provide Ukraine an additional $7.9 billion in security assistance on the 26th, labeling it “a huge mistake and a foolish act.” She openly expressed support for Russia, accusing the U.S. of deliberately escalating tensions.

She cautioned the U.S. and its allies not to dismiss Russia’s stern warnings lightly, stating, “The U.S. and its followers, who pursue coercion and challenge justice, will inevitably pay severe consequences.”
