North Korean Rockets in Hezbollah’s Arsenal—How Dangerous Are They?

Daniel Kim Views

Analysts have expressed concerns about Hezbollah’s deployment of R-122 rockets, known for their extended range, according to a report by Radio Free Asia (RFA)

A military blogger, War Noir, noted on Hezbollah’s official Telegram channel (. @mmirleb. ) that a recently released propaganda video features projectiles resembling North Korean-made R-122 HE-FRAG rockets.

N.R. Jenzen-Jones, director of the Australian Weapon Research Service (ARES), confirmed that the 122mm surface-to-surface rockets shown in the video are likely from North Korea, adding that Hezbollah is already known to have these weapons.

Lee Il Woo, secretary-general of the Korea Defense Network, explained that many countries produce 122mm HE-FRAG rockets. Both North Korea and Iran have supplied them to Russia and resistance forces across the Middle East.

North Korea has also provided R-122 rockets to Russia, which are currently being used in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

On Monday, the Israel Defense Forces announced the discovery of North Korean weapons while exposing Hezbollah’s underground tunnels leading to weapon depots along the southern border of Lebanon.
