Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, emphasized war readiness while observing the training of the Airborne Brigade.

According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on the 16th, Kim guided the training exercises of the paratrooper units on the 15th.

The report stated that the purpose of the training was to “inspect the readiness of the airborne and ground forces to be mobilized according to any operational directive in unforeseeable wartime situations,” detailing how “transport planes flew over the training ground, and soldiers poured out like hail into the simulated enemy positions.”

Kim Jong Un declared that “the primary mission of the People’s Army is first, second, and third, all war readiness” and ordered that “all service members throughout the military must be firmly armed with a resolute enemy will to overturn history if a war breaks out and a profound understanding of war.”

He continued, “Even a single training in the People’s Army must be a real combat training directly linked to war. Only then can we prepare the soldiers to fight and win unconditionally in the stern battlefield of life and death.”

Furthermore, he emphasized, “Through recent major training, we have been able to confirm directly that our military, the directly responsible party for war execution and the basic capability of national defense, is not only thoroughly prepared for war in all aspects but also engraved with a strong enemy view and firmly maintains a combat mobilization posture in all aspects.”

Park Jong Chon, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the training. It was welcomed on-site by officials, including the Minister of National Defense Kang Sun Nam, Chief of General Staff Ri Yong Gil, the Air Force Commander, and the commander of the 11th Corps.

Kim Jong Un has been inspecting military training daily in response to the South Korea-US joint military exercise ‘Freedom Shield’ (FS), which took place from March 4 to 14. Previously, on the 6th, he directed actual maneuver training that involved the occupation of frontline guard posts (GP) and breakthrough of general outposts (GOP), artillery and multiple rocket launcher firing training on the 7th, and tank unit competition training using new tanks on the 13th.
