President Yoon Seok Yeol Leads Global Democracy Summit with Denmark, Kenya

President Yoon Suk Yeol will hold a virtual meeting with the leaders of Denmark and Kenya.

The South Korean government plans to host the “3rd Democracy Summit” for three days, from the 18th to the 20th.

The “Democracy Summit” is a conference system launched under the leadership of U.S. President Biden in 2021, and the 2nd Summit was co-hosted by the U.S., South Korea, Costa Rica, the Netherlands, and Zambia last March.

On the first day of the 3rd Democracy Summit, the 18th, there will be ministerial meetings and expert roundtables on “Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology, and Democracy.” On the second day, the 19th, events such as panel discussions and workshops led by domestic and overseas civic societies will occur.

The main meeting of the 3rd Summit will be held virtually on the evening of the 20th. President Yoon Suk Yeol will open the virtual Summit with Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Kenya’s President William Ruto.

South Korea, Denmark, and Kenya will each host one session of the Summit summit, and President Yoon is expected to chair the second session on the topic of “Technology, Elections, and Fake NewsSummits summit, held under the theme of “Democracy for Future Generations,” is expected to instill confidence in democracy in the world’s young people, the leaders of the future. At the same time, the summit will provide an opportunity to reflect on the younger generation’s voices actively. Various discussions will be held during the three-day period, and plans to support the enhancement of the innovative capabilities of global youth will be announced.

The Korean government’s hosting of the 3rd Democracy Summit reflects the international community’s high trust and expectations in Korea’s democratic leadership. At the summit, the government plans to promote global democracy by sharing Korea’s experiences and achievements in nurturing and developing democracy and further solidifying its global vision as a pivotal country.
