In a recent speech, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un underscored his commitment to rapidly expanding the country’s nuclear arsenal, declaring, “The nuclear capability of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea must be fully equipped to respond thoroughly to various threats.”

In a speech titled Let’s Strive Even Harder for the Prosperity of Our Great Nation, Kim emphasized that “the Republic’s nuclear combat forces operate within a solid command and control system,” as the Korean Central News Agency reported. He stressed, “The clear conclusion is that we must thoroughly complete the development of our nuclear capabilities to utilize them effectively when necessary to protect national security.”

Kim also commented on the growing military cooperation between South Korea, the United States, and Japan. He described the U.S.-led military bloc system as a “significant threat” due to its expanding and increasingly nuclear nature. Kim declared, “We will continuously strengthen our nuclear capabilities in response to these evolving threats. True peace comes from strong power, which guarantees our national development.”

He asserted that North Korea is a responsible nuclear power, claiming, “Our nuclear weapons do not threaten anyone.” Kim further assured that the country’s entire military, including its nuclear force, is in a “complete state of combat readiness,” expressing confidence in the rapid and sustainable development of North Korea’s military strength.

He also touched on economic matters. Kim expressed satisfaction with the improvement activities on the economy in North Korea during the first half of the year, emphasizing that various goals on the economy aspect, including the Regional Development 20×10 Policy, must be achieved this year. He remarked, “The practical growth of major local industrial factories in 20 cities and counties is progressing as expected. Overall, as agricultural yields look promising, we can anticipate good results.”

Regarding the recovery efforts in the lower reaches of the Amnok River at the end of July, he explained, “The Party and government have newly identified the gaps and regions in natural crisis response and have devised proactive and irreversible preventive measures.” He insisted that “future flood recovery efforts should be completed qualitatively on schedule and win the fight against nature.”
