On Wednesday, North Korea’s state-run newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that various units in the country’s machinery industry are increasing production of equipment intended for the nation’s apatite mine.

The Anju Pump Factory has reportedly completed the production of high-performance pumps for the mine, while the Sinuiju Mining Machinery Factory and the Taedonggang Electric Factory have fulfilled their plans for producing mine wagons and electrical products for the site.

The report also highlighted that several other machinery manufacturing plants, including the Tongnim Mining Machine Factory, are accelerating production to finalize the necessary extraction equipment and components.

Apatite, an iron and titanium mineral containing calcium oxide, is primarily used as fertilizer.
