People Power Party leader Han Dong Hoon declared that to safeguard the Republic of Korea and its citizens. He believed it imperative to suspend President Yoon Suk Yeol from his duties immediately. This marks a noteworthy shift from Han’s previous stance, where he had vowed to prevent Yoon’s impeachment.

Han convened an emergency Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly on Friday. He disclosed that last night, he received credible information confirming that on the day martial law was declared, President Yoon Suk Yeol had ordered the arrest of key political figures, labeling them as anti-state elements. This order was reportedly given to Counterintelligence Commander Yeo In Hyung, who is known as the president’s high school junior.

Han further revealed that Commander Yeo had detailed plans to detain these politicians at a facility in Gwacheon. He believed that this information would soon be made public through various channels.

Han emphasized, “Yesterday, I stated I would work to prevent this impeachment to avoid harm to citizens and supporters due to unexpected chaos. However, in light of these emerging facts, I now believe it is crucial to immediately suspend President Yoon Suk Yeol from his duties to protect our nation and its people.”

The party leader criticized Yoon, stating that he had not taken any disciplinary action against military officials who illegally participated in this situation or addressed Commander Yeo In Hyung’s involvement.

Moreover, he condemned Yoon, saying that he had failed to acknowledge the wrongfulness of this illegal martial law declaration.

Han warned, “If President Yoon Suk Yeol remains in office, there is a threatening risk of similar extreme actions recurring, potentially placing the Republic of Korea and its citizens in grave danger.”
