On the 13th (local time), K-Pop girl group LE SSERAFIM performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the U.S., and met with local fans.

Despite excitement from local fans, they faced domestic and international criticism for their perceived lack of skill.

Their set included the unreleased song “1-800-hot-n-fun” and a performance of their title track “UNFORGIVEN” with a guest appearance by Nile Rodgers, a well-known U.S. musician.

LE SSERAFIM’s performance at Coachella showcased their dedication, but their limited singing ability was a notable disadvantage. Following the release of their Coachella performance, social media was inundated with comments highlighting their lack of skill.

One netizen stated, “I congratulate them for making it to Coachella in such a short time, but the stage clearly showed a lack of vocal ability.” They continued, “The non-stop dancing during the first half of the performance was bearable, but it fell apart completely during “Smart.” regrettably, a large company like HYBE (LE SSERAFIM’s agency) created a team that prioritizes visuals and performance, which is a fundamental issue that is hard to overcome.”

Some netizens pointed out that this disaster at Coachella could have been avoided if LE SSERAFIM had built up their skills on large stages like world tours, similar to the group Blackpink.

Blackpink, the first K-pop girl group to grace Coachella’s stage in 2019, received widespread acclaim for their show.

Despite this, LE SSERAFIM’s official channels promoted their Coachella performance, including YouTube. Furthermore, LE SSERAFIM is scheduled to perform again in five days.
