Grammy-Winning Artist Pharrell Williams Collaborates With NewJeans

joynews24 Views

World-renowned pop icon Pharrell Williams has participated as a composer and lyricist in NewJeans’ Japanese debut single.

According to their agency, ADOR, on May 13th, Pharrell Williams was credited with NewJeans’ Japanese debut single “Supernatural” and the title track of the same name.

“Supernatural” strikes a perfect balance between a nostalgic melody and the members’ emotional vocals. “Pharrell Williams took his iconic ad-libs and bridge from “Back of My Mind,” a track he co-produced with Japanese singer Manami in 2009, and producer 250 reinterpreted it in a New Jack Swing style,” ADOR described.

Pharrell Williams, widely known for his mega-hit “Happy”, is a globally recognized singer and producer who has won several Grammy Awards. Additionally, he is incredibly influential in popular culture as a fashion designer, among other creative endeavors.

NewJeans’ Japanese debut single “Supernatural” will be released on June 21st. The single includes the title track of the same name, a B-side track “Right Now,” and instrumentals for each song, totaling four tracks. “Right Now” drew attention when it was partially revealed as the Lotte ZERO commercial song on May 9th.

NewJeans raised expectations for their unprecedented Japanese debut activities by announcing collaborations with masters in the cultural and arts field, such as Murakami Takashi and Hiroshi Fujiwara. Not only that, but the scale of their debut, which includes a fan meeting at Tokyo Dome, has attracted attention.

NewJeans will make their comeback in Korea first on May 24th. The music video for “Bubble Gum,” a track from their pre-released double single, “How Sweet,” topped YouTube’s Korea Weekly Popular Music Video category for two consecutive weeks and maintained high rankings in the global weekly chart, continuing their popularity. This suggests the global influence and impact of NewJeans, who are causing a sensation with just one music video even before the official release of their music.
