Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, known to have recently met with former President Donald Trump, a U.S. presidential candidate, has drawn a line on the possibility of supporting election funds.
On the 6th (local time), Musk said through social media X (formerly Twitter), “Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President.”
This remark came a day after The New York Times (NYT) reported a meeting between former President Trump and CEO Musk.
The NYT reported that on the 3rd, former President Trump met with CEO Musk and a handful of high-dollar Republican donors in Palm Beach, Florida, quoting Musk’s recent remarks that President Joe Biden should lose in this US presidential election. Citing sources, it was also reported that former President Trump praised CEO Musk to his allies and expressed his hope for a private meeting with him.
With the news of their meeting, there were claims that CEO Musk might be financially supporting former President Trump. If true, it was assessed that former President Trump, who recently was sentenced to a fine of hundreds of millions of dollars and needs astronomical campaign funds, would instantly turn the tables against President Biden in terms of funding.
However, just a day after the report, Musk dismissed the possibility of supporting former President Trump’s campaign funds, stating he would not support any candidate’s election funds. However, he did not comment on his meeting with former President Trump.
