North Korean Parachute Training Disaster: Several Dead as Kim Jong Un Watches On

It has been confirmed that several airborne troops died in a parachute training accident in front of Kim Jong Un.

According to government authorities, numerous fatalities and injuries occurred when a crash occurred during an airborne training exercise that Kim and his daughter Ju Ae were observing on the 15th of last month.

North Korean sources say that despite difficult weather conditions for parachute drops, the training was carried out due to the presence of Kim and his daughter Ju Ae, leading to this tragedy. It appears that during the training, the parachutes did not open or got tangled due to strong winds. It is reported that Ju Ae was watching the scene with binoculars.

A North Korean source told KBS, “The training had to go on because Kim’s observation was scheduled, even though there was a strong wind at the training site. Due to the strong wind, the parachutes did not open and got tangled with each other, causing several soldiers to fall or suffer severe injuries.” The deceased reportedly include soldiers in their early twenties.

North Korean authorities have thoroughly suppressed news of the accident. The day after the accident, the Korean Central News Agency reported, “The combatants poured down on the imaginary enemy line like a hailstorm,” and “They powerfully demonstrated their perfect combat capability.” They also reported that Kim took a commemorative photo with the combatants of the Airborne Troops who successfully conducted combat training.
