Yonhap News

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 8 to begin his US trip focused on security. This marks the start of his two-night, five-day itinerary, which will continue with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.

Yoon and his wife, Kim Keon Hee, arrived at the Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu on the presidential aircraft Air Force One.

After the arrival ceremony, they will move to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, where Korean War veterans are buried. This cemetery also houses graves of veterans from World War II and the Vietnam War, and it is a symbol of the South Korea-U.S. alliance. It is known as the Punchbowl because of its crater-like depression shape.

Following this, Yoon will host a dinner meeting with local Koreans, and First Lady Kim will also attend.

On July 9, Yoon is scheduled to visit the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. The commander will give Yoon a report on the security situation and encourage the troops. Later that day, he will depart for Washington, D.C., to attend the NATO summit.
