Office of the President of the Republic of Korea has announced that it is “finalizing the schedule and agenda” for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s upcoming visit to South Korea.

A senior official from the office spoke with reporters yesterday about Japanese media reports indicating that Kishida is expected to visit South Korea from the 6th to the 7th. The official clarified, “It is customary for both countries to make a simultaneous announcement on the confirmed dates.”

South Korea’s Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul appeared on KBS’s Sunday Diagnosis Live and confirmed that final preparations for Kishida’s visit are in progress. He remarked, “The visit aims to provide a final opportunity for crucial discussions on the future of South Korea-Japan relations.”

The office also mentioned the potential for a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to South Korea. A senior official noted, “China is interested in restoring normal relations with South Korea. If high-level and working-level interactions between South Korea and China continue to improve, a visit from President Xi Jinping could be possible.”

The official cautioned, “While it is not appropriate to speculate on specific dates or details at this time if the current trend of restoring relations continues, such a situation could occur in the future.”
