A claim has been raised that Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, could play a positive role in President-elect Donald Trump’s AI policy.

According to the IT media outlet The Verge, on Monday, the non-profit AI advocacy organization Americans for Responsible Innovation (ARI) launched a public petition urging Trump to appoint Musk as a special advisor on AI. ARI argues that Musk is the right person to protect America’s AI technology leadership and ensure its safe deployment.

The petition distributed by ARI states that Musk is the best person to help the Trump administration lead the U.S. in AI. It also specifies that the organization does not receive corporate funding.

Furthermore, ARI’s petition claims that any potential conflicts of interest involving Musk could be resolved, suggesting that with appropriate mechanisms in place, he could be a valuable asset to the Trump administration in advancing innovative technology. ARI aims to collect 10,000 signatures for the petition.
