LG’s AI Air Conditioners Change the Game

An LG Electronics employee manufactures the LG Whisen air conditioners at the air conditioner production line in LG Smart Park, Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.

LG Electronics announced on the 19th that they are leading the market as sales of air conditioners equipped with Affectionate Intelligence technology have significantly increased.

LG Electronics explained that the domestic sales volume of the 2024 Whisen air conditioner model equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) features increased by about 30% in the first quarter compared to last year.

This year, LG Electronics introduced new products such as the Whisen “Tower I,” “Tower II,” and “Whisen View,” which are equipped with the representative Affectionate Intelligence feature “AI Smart Care.” In particular, the Whisen Tower II accounted for more than 70% of the total first-quarter sales of AI air conditioners, securing its position as the most popular product.

LG Electronics is expanding the range of products applying AI, redefining it as Affectionate Intelligence, which signifies empathy with customers and offers benefits in real life such as convenience, safety, security, and care.

The AI Smart Care feature of LG Electronics’ Affectionate Intelligence air conditioner analyzes the space without the customer having to adjust the wind strength or direction. It quickly lowers the indoor temperature to the desired level with a fast wind, then maintains the temperature with a wind that does not directly touch the customer. It automatically operates as an air purifier when the air quality is poor.

Also, the LG Whisen AI air conditioner analyzes the image. It adjusts the wind direction to suit the customer’s needs when the customer photographs their home space and designates their location through the LG ThinQ app. The top-of-the-line LG Whisen Tower I 9 series has a radar sensor, allowing AI to identify the user’s location in real-time and provide optimal cooling.

Lee Jae Seong, Head of Air Solution Business at LG Electronics H&A Business Division (Vice President), said, “We will lead the AI air conditioner market by providing a more comfortable daily life with enhanced AI Smart Care.”
