A 140 kg (308 lbs) man struggling with food addiction, marked by overeating and constant cravings, has amazed everyone by losing 50 kg (110 lbs) in just six months.
The Sun recently featured the story of 29-year-old Rhys Collington, who embraced a new life after losing 50 kg (110 lbs) in six months.
According to the report, Rhys, a Nottingham resident, had struggled with overeating since childhood, coupled with a sedentary lifestyle. Despite attempting various diets since his teenage years, he couldn’t stick to any of them and frequently gave up.
His food addiction deepened over time, with his days consumed by thoughts of his next meal. In January of last year, Rhys read an account from actor Denis Welch, who admitted to his own food addiction and shared the dieting methods. Inspired by Welch’s story, Rhys adopted these strategies for himself.
Rhys recalled, “The light bulb moment was a sudden realization of how unhappy I was and how far I’d let it get out of control. As I was approaching 30, I really wanted to change myself.”
With this newfound determination, he abandoned his habit of consuming large amounts of food and snacks while being sedentary. Instead, he started following a low-calorie diet of 800 calories per day provided by the LighterLife weight loss program and incorporated regular exercise into his routine.
As a result, Rhys, who previously wore only 3XL-sized clothing, has lost 50 kg (110 lbs) in six months and now weighs 88 kg (194 lbs), reaching a normal weight.
Rhys expressed his excitement, saying he can now walk into any clothing store and buy size M clothes. He added that he even returned to an amusement park where he once experienced the humiliation of getting off a ride because the safety bar wouldn’t close.
“Now I’ve learned that it can be applied to any scenario. After the [LighterLife] diet, I reintroduced food, kept up with exercise, and re-educated myself,” he added.
