Tom Cruise Steals the Show at the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony

Daniel Kim Views

The closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics lived up to our expectations. Tom Cruise was at the center of the action, capping off the event with a stunt show reminiscent of a movie scene.

The 2024 Paris Olympics finished with a grand finale yesterday. The spectacular closing ceremony held at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France, captured the attention of the entire world.

After the Olympic anthem ended, the Olympic flag passed from Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo to IOC President Thomas Bach and Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass, the host city for the next Olympics. The American flag was raised, and the national anthem sung by Emmy Award-winning artist H.E.R. echoed throughout the stadium.

Cruise then made his entrance at the closing ceremony. He received the Olympic flag like a scene from his iconic movie Mission: Impossible, raising anticipation for the 2028 LA Olympics.

Cruise appeared at the top of Stade de France, illuminated by lights, and performed a stunt drop, hanging from a single wire like a movie scene. Amidst cheers from around the world, he took the stage, greeted the legendary American gymnastic Simone Biles and Bass, and accepted the Olympic flag.

Holding the Olympic flag, Cruise descended from the stage, planted the flag on a prepared motorcycle, and rode off from the closing ceremony venue.

The following video showed Cruise waving the Olympic flag as he sped through the streets of Paris on a motorcycle, then boarded a plane, pulled out a communication device, and added urgency by saying to someone, “I’m on my way.”

In the video, Cruise carefully folded the Olympic flag and stowed it in his backpack. Then, he jumped from the plane like a movie, landing safely in California. He raced toward LA and passed the Olympic flag to the next torchbearer, an MTB national team member, Kate Courtney.

The video ended with a shot of the Hollywood sign, a landmark in LA. By adding three Os to the Hollywood sign, Cruise transformed it into the Olympic rings, raising excitement for the next Olympics.

The Olympic flag passed through legendary track athlete Michael Johnson and skateboarder Jagger Eaton, leading to a performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg at the LA beach.

A century after the city’s last Games, the Paris Olympics concluded as representative athletes from each continent extinguished a small torch. This torch was brought by French hero Léon Marchand, who won four gold medals in swimming at these Games. The Olympic flame will be reignited in Los Angeles in four years.

Meanwhile, Cruise showcased his genuine enjoyment during the Olympics by attending various games. He also presented at Saturday’s women’s soccer final between the U.S. and Brazil. His enthusiastic cheers when the final goal was scored drew attention, especially as the U.S. secured the gold medal for the first time in 12 years, adding to the joy of his support.

Tom Cruise watched Simone Biles, the “Queen of Gymnastics,” compete in the women’s team gymnastics event at the Paris Olympics. He cheerfully posed for photos with fans who recognized him in the stands. When he appeared on the stadium’s large screen and was broadcast, the theme song from Mission: Impossible played, further electrifying the atmosphere.
