North Korea recently stated that “it will thoroughly safeguard the country’s safety and rights with strong deterrent actions against nuclear threats” in response to the subcritical experiments of the United States.

A spokesperson for the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized in a statement on the 20th, “The United States’ subcritical experiments is a dangerous act that makes the increasingly deteriorating global security environment more unstable and has a serious negative impact on the strategic balance between major nuclear powers.”

The spokesperson continued, “The United States has exposed itself that the current administration’s pledge is nothing but a farce to reduce dependence on nuclear weapons and alleviate the risk of strategic miscalculation and military tension.”

The statement emphasized, “The United States, the world’s largest nuclear power and the only country in the world that has conducted the most nuclear tests and used nuclear weapons, has no right to talk about the threat of nuclear war by anyone.”

It also threatened, “We must reconsider the necessary measures to improve the overall nuclear deterrent posture within the range of sovereign rights and possible options granted to us to prepare for the strategic instability in the regional and global scope caused by the unilateral actions of the United States.”

Furthermore, it declared, “North Korea will not allow strategic imbalance and security vacuum to be created in the Korean Peninsula region.”
