A fake video of former U.S. President Donald Trump, created by AI

A fake video of former U.S. President Donald Trump criticizing Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is spreading on X (formerly Twitter) and other social media platforms.

According to NHK, on the 13th, an AI-generated video features a man with Trump’s face criticizing Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. In the video, he states, “I just finished a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and it was a complete disaster,” and goes on to harshly critique him, saying, “I had high hopes, but he is just a puppet of the globalists.” He also accuses Kishida of lacking vision and leadership and of playing into the hands of the global elite.

There is also a part where he compares Kishida to his predecessor, the late Shinzo Abe, who knowingly had a close relationship with Trump. The character in the video says, “He’s different from (Abe) Shinzo,” and “(Former Prime Minister Abe) loved Japan as a true patriot.” At the top of the video (the mosaiced part in the upper left of the picture) is a small phrase indicating that it was created using a specific AI service.

NHK said this video started spreading on various social media accounts in April this year. As of the 12th, it has been played over 1.16 million times on X and over 880,000 on Instagram. They emphasized, “There is a need for attention on reckless spread prevention because even if it looks like the person is speaking, there are fake videos that use statements from completely different scenes in a different context.”
