North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Warns of Immediate Military Strike on South Korea

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has issued a stark warning, declaring that North Korea will not hesitate to use military force if South Korea infringes on its sovereignty, referring to South Korea as both an “enemy state” and a “foreign country.”

The Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim made these remarks during a visit to the 2nd Corps Command on Thursday. He characterized the recent destruction of the Gyeongui Line and Donghae Line, which connected the two Koreas, as more than just a physical severing of ties.

“This action cuts off the long-standing ill-fated relationship with Seoul,” Kim stated. “It completely sheds the futile tribalism and the unrealistic perception of unification. This is our final declaration that we will use military force without hesitation if South Korea, our hostile neighbor, infringes upon our sovereignty.”

Kim reinforced North Korea’s position, stating, “As we’ve already declared, any use of our offensive forces would be a legitimate retaliatory action against a hostile nation, not fellow countrymen.” He added that only peace defended by powerful military strength could guarantee lasting security and the well-being of the state and its people.

Earlier this week, the North Korean military claimed that a South Korean drone violated its airspace, accusing Seoul of infringing on its sovereignty. In response, North Korea placed artillery units near the border on high alert on October 13 and, two days later, destroyed the sections of the Gyeongui and Donghae lines that once connected the North and South.
