President-elect Donald Trump has indicated that he may use the military for a large-scale deportation of undocumented immigrants, a plan he pledged to implement immediately after his January 20, 2025, inauguration.
On Monday, Trump reposted a message from Tom Fitton, head of the conservative legal organization Judicial Watch, on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump commented on the post, saying, “TRUE!!!”
Earlier, on November 8, Fitton stated, “The incoming Trump administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program.” By reposting and endorsing the statement, Trump effectively confirmed its accuracy.
During his campaign, Trump declared, “On day one, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out.”
He has also designated Tom Homan, the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as his border czar. While “czar” is not an official title, it typically refers to someone overseeing related policies. Trump is expected to create an appropriate position within the White House or other government departments to formalize this role.
During his first term, Trump declared a national emergency regarding the border to bypass congressional procedures, a strategy he may employ again in his second term.
