Recent polls show that one in four Americans harbors resentment toward President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The level of disapproval for both Democratic and Republican presidential candidates has hit a record high.

According to United Press, a poll conducted by Pew Research from the 13th to the 19th of last month, surveying 8,638 American adults, showed that 25% of respondents disliked President Biden and former President Trump.

Pew Research pointed out that this marked the highest level of disapproval for candidates from both parties in the ten presidential elections dating back to 1988.

Axios noted that both candidates’ disapproval levels have nearly doubled in four years. In 2020, only 13% of respondents expressed dislike for Biden, and Trump faced off, compared to the current number.

In 2016, when Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were the Republican and Democratic candidates, respectively, the disapproval rate for both candidates was 20%, the highest on record then.

In the survey, 34% of respondents stated they liked Biden but disliked Trump, while 36% expressed a favorable view of Trump but disliked Biden.

Meanwhile, Axios reported that a recent ABC and Ipsos survey found that 67% of respondents who disliked both candidates believe that former President Trump should withdraw from the race following his guilty verdict.
