The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 29th (local time) that the relationship between former President Donald Trump, who is seeking re-election in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is becoming increasingly close.

Citing a source, WSJ reported that Trump, a Republican presidential candidate, and Musk have been discussing the possibility of Musk taking on an advisory role if Trump returns to the White House.

The source also said that they discussed the possibility of Musk exerting official influence on border security (illegal immigration) and economic policies, which Musk has been vocal about. However, it’s not yet decided whether Musk will take on this role, and it could fall through, the source added.

Brian Hughes, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, said, “President Trump will be the only one to have a say in what role each individual will play while he is in office.”

However, Musk’s team did not respond to requests for comment on this issue.

WSJ reported that these discussions between Trump and Musk took place last March at the coastal mansion of Wall Street billionaire investor Nelson Peltz in Palm Beach, Florida.

The New York Times (NYT) first reported this meeting between Trump and Musk, but the details were not disclosed.

In a subsequent interview with former CNN anchor Don Lemon, Musk explained the background of the meeting, saying, “I went to a friend’s house and Trump was waiting there, so I said, ‘Okay, that’s fine.'” He also stated that there was nothing special or new in his conversation with Trump.

WSJ reported that during this meeting, Musk explained to former President Trump a plan he and Peltz had been developing to invest in a data-based project to prevent voter fraud.

However, the specifics of this project to prevent voter fraud have not been disclosed.

Furthermore, Musk reportedly plans to continue organizing meetings with a group of financial elites close to him to voice opposition to President Biden, who is seeking re-election.
