Griffin and Singer in Talks with Trump Over Campaign Support

theguru Views

Ken Griffin, Citadel CEO and one of the US hedge fund billionaires, and Paul Singer, the chairman of Elliott Management, have recently met with former President Donald Trump to discuss donations.

According to Bloomberg on Monday, two Republican billionaires who have criticized Trump in the past met with the former president to discuss support for his election campaign. However, the sources said they have not confirmed whether they will provide campaign funds.

According to the report, Griffin met with Trump at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, near Washington DC, two weeks ago. Singer has also regularly met with Trump’s campaign team over the past few weeks. Griffin and Singer are known as prominent Republican supporters, but they have been critical of Trump. Singer previously pointed out in 2016 that Trump’s trade policies would lead to a global recession. Griffin criticized Trump as a three-time loser after the Republicans lost the midterm elections in 2022.

Earlier this year, during the Republican primaries, Griffin and Singer each donated $5 million to the super PACs (Political Action Committee) of former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, who ran against Trump. They also supported Marco Rubio, a senator from Florida who competed against Trump in the 2016 Republican primaries, with donations.

Meanwhile, another billionaire hedge fund manager mogul, Bill Ackman, also the founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, has officially vowed his support for Trump after the assassination attempt on Saturday.

On Saturday, Ackman posted a photo of Trump, his face covered in blood and his fist raised, on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he would “publicly support Donald Trump.” He had been delaying issuing his official endorsement until the Republican rallies. However, he formalized his position after the shooting incident.
