North Korea’s state-run newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that on the 27th, Kim Jong Un was present at the inspection and test firing of the 240mm rocket artillery system produced by the defense industry under the Second Economic Committee.

The newspaper stated, “On the test firing, the rocket weapon system with improved mobility and strike concentration technology demonstrated superiority in all indicators, including the newly introduced guidance system, handling quality, and destructive power.”

It was also reported that Kim stressed the important principles to uphold in producing artillery weapons and replacing equipment for military units.

The test firing included participants such as Pak Jong Chon, vice chairman of the Party Central Military Commission and secretary of the Party Central Committee; Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the Party Central Committee; Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces; Kim Jong Sik, first deputy director of the Party Central Committee; Kim Yong Hwan, director of the National Defense Science Institute, and commanders of military joint units.

In May, during his visit to the defense industry under the Second Economic Committee, Kim Jong Un emphasized the modernization of production processes for highly efficient and reliable MRLS(Multiple Rocket Launcher System).
