Fast food giant McDonald’s has decided to extend the sales period for its limited-time $5 value meal.
According to a notice sent to stores on Monday, Bloomberg reported that over 93% of McDonald’s locations agreed to extend the $5 meal sales that were supposed to end at the end of this month.
As a result, McDonald’s $5 meal will be extended until August.
Furthermore, McDonald’s emphasized that the $5 meal has successfully encouraged customers to return to its restaurants, stating, “Increasing customer numbers will revive our business and be a key for sustainable growth.”
Previously, McDonald’s launched a $5 meal as a limited-time offer beginning on the 25th of last month to draw in more customers. This meal offers a choice between a McDouble or a McChicken sandwich, accompanied by small fries, four chicken nuggets, and a small drink. Typically, these items would cost about $18.26 in notoriously expensive New York City.
The attractive pricing of the $5 meal led to an increase in customer visits to McDonald’s. This discount marketing strategy proved effective, especially as American consumers have recently been grappling with high inflation. Following the pandemic, food franchises significantly raised their prices, leading to decreased consumer dining out.
