With approximately six weeks remaining until the U.S. presidential election, a recent poll released on September 24 reveals a narrow favorability ratings gap between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, ranging from as little as 1% to as much as 6%.

The CNN and SSRS poll, conducted among 2,074 registered voters nationwide, indicates Harris holds a slight edge with 48% support compared to Trump’s 47%, within a margin of error of ±3%.

The survey highlights that a majority of both Harris and Trump’s supporters are likely to vote for their preferred candidate over the opposition, with 72% of Trump supporters and 60% of Harris supporters citing favorable preference as their primary reason for backing their candidate.

Positive sentiment toward Harris has seen a significant uptick compared to previous polls. Following President Joe Biden’s resignation in July, a CNN poll reflected an even split between positive evaluations of Harris and anti-Trump sentiment.

CNN analysts noted that the contest between Harris and Trump is extremely close, adding that Harris’s support is based on her strong personal appeal. Meanwhile, Trump continues to leverage his passionate supporter base and perceived strengths in economic management as the election approaches.

In contrast, a poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos from September 21 to 23 among 1,029 adults nationwide, with a margin of error of ±4%, found Harris leading Trump by more than 6%.

According to this survey, Harris showed 46.61% support, while Trump trails at 40.48%. On September 11 and 12, polls showed that Harris and Trump had 47% and 42% support, respectively.

When asked which candidate was handling economic and labor issues, Trump maintained a slight advantage, leading with 43% compared to Harris’s 41%. Harris’s lead has narrowed from an 11% gap at the end of July to just 2%, indicating a tightening race as voters weigh their options.
