Don Jr. Says Shooting Incident Transformed His Father’s Approach

inews24 Views

“There are events that change you for a couple minutes and there’s events that change you permanently.”

Don Trump Jr., the son of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, has stated that his father has changed significantly following a recent shooting incident. Trump was shot at during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on the 14th. The bullet grazed his right ear, allowing him to avoid a fatal injury.

Trump Jr. discussed the Republican National Convention with Axios on Wednesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where it is being held. The day before, Trump became the Republican presidential candidate through a delegate vote at the convention.

During the discussion, Trump nominated Senator J. D. Vance as his running mate. Regarding Trump’s change after the shooting incident, Don Trump Jr. responded, “I actually think so.”

He mentioned that he had spent approximately 3-4 hours with his father the day before the shooting, during which his father had prepared an intense and controversial speech. However, he noted that there was a change in tone after the shooting incident.

In an interview the day after the shooting, Trump revealed that he had rewritten his Republican nomination acceptance speech. He mentioned that he had “unified America.”

Meanwhile, Trump Jr. said they “toned down the political rhetoric and changed some wordings.” He said he was fishing with his daughter in Florida on the day of the shooting. However, as soon as the news was reported, he called his father to confirm his safety. During the call, they shared light-hearted jokes reaffirming Trump’s well-being.

He also criticized the security issue. Trump Jr. said, “I saw a video of a man with a gun climbing onto the roof. Such a thing never happens. It can’t happen without a serious mistake.”

In response to the question, “How far do you think your father’s change will go?” Trump Jr. answered, “I think it will continue. My father will always be a ‘fighter,’ but I believe he will do his best to take a moderate stance when necessary.”
